The oldest snake

May 28, 2019

Popeye, a boa constrictor, lived an outstandingly long life that spanned 40 years, 3 months and 14 days before dying on April 15, 1977 at the Philadelphia Zoo in Pennsylvania. Like all ball pythons, boas live on average 20 to 30 years. If you want your reptilian companion to reach such a ripe old age be sure to invest in a suitable environment and don't skimp on care. And you might want to keep one thing in mind: snakes don't bond … no matter how long you drape them around your neck! (Violaine Charest-Sigouin)
