How your home insurance can protect your animals

According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, as they relate to your home insurance policy, domestic animals are considered property. And this can have positive implications! It means that some types of injury inflicted on your animal may be covered. These may include injury caused by fire or explosion, smoke, lightning, an object falling on the outside of your home, vandalism, hail or windstorm, or in some instances damage caused by water or broken public drinking-water pipes. Your beloved animals may also be covered following a transport accident, notably following a collision or overturning.
